Women's Ministry

women's ministry

Our CUMC United Methodist Women meets the first Thursday of each month at 2:00 PM. Our purpose is:

  • To know God and to make God known
  • To experience God as whole persons through Jesus Christ
  • To develop a strong fellowship with other women in our church, our community, our district, our region, our nation, and our world

We have been called to a life of Christian witness, mission & outreach (not only locally, but nationally and globally as well), and Christian service. We focus our ministries primarily on women, children, and youth, and we frequently find ourselves involved in many different types of mission projects, all the while sharing a wonderful fellowship through events designed to bring us closer to one another.
UMW is not only a great place to be in service to our blessed Lord, but it’s also a place of great fun and fellowship!  You are personally invited to come and be a part of our next meeting or event.  Watch our calendar for opportunities coming soon!

Please pray for our nation, our nation's leaders and our troops - both domestic & abroad.

Outreach

In addition to our community outreach support of many local missions, such as Grand Lake Community Ministries who offer temporary assistance to the needy, and South Grand Lake Meals on Wheels, who supplies those who need it, a hot meal one per week, we also financially support four different missionary families.  We believe that missions are an important purpose for which God created each of us.  Come and be a part of what God is doing, here at CUMC!

Music Ministry

Join us for Choir rehearsals. Wednesdays at 6:30 pm.
Come see what you’ve been missing!

Seasonal Note: (Next Choir Rehearsal will be Sept. 1st)

At Cleora UMC, we believe music is one of the key ways in which we praise and worship God. Therefore, music is very important to us. We are blessed to have many gifted voices and instrumentalists in our congregation who bless us weekly by the sharing of their musical gifts. Whether you are a beginner who just loves to sing or play an instrument, or you are expertly trained, there is a place for you in ministry here at CUMC. Our goal is to sing and play music for the Lord, while the rest of us get to “over-hear.” Our Chancel Choir (adults) brings us special music on most Sundays. Additionally there are several special choir presentations each year, such as a Christmas musical, an Independence Day celebration, a special collection of music during Holy Week and Easter, and much more. At CUMC, we work very hard to make our worship meaningful, heart-felt, and genuine. This makes music more than just music. It is an integral part of how we offer ourselves to God as a pure and living sacrifice of praise and worship. We know that through thematic unity between the message of the day and the music in worship, you will experience a deeper and more complete worship experience. Musical styles range from contemporary to classical, from southern gospel to urban gospel, from Christian pop to traditional hymns of the faith. Variety is the key. And variety is what you will experience here. Individual musicians also regularly bring us special music. Vocalists and instrumentalists alike are encouraged to bring their gift to our Lord by using their talents to glorify God. We are in the initial stages of forming a children / youth choir too. If you’d like to get in on the ground floor, and help us get it started, we welcome you. Our music ministry here at CUMC, shares a wonderful fellowship. It’s been said, “There is no better friend in the world than one who sings the same song as you,” and at CUMC we strive to sing a new song to the Lord!

Men's Ministry

united methodist men

Our newly formed United Methodist Men’s group is excited to invite you to come and share in a fellowship with us, as we embark on an exciting journey.  What does it mean to be a Christian male in today’s world? How we do “fellowship” in today’s world can sometimes be counter to our set of Christian standards and morals.  Here is a place where we can discuss virtually anything without fear of being judged, criticized, or made to feel uneasy.  We share fellowship through our meetings (usually the third Monday of each month at 5:30 PM), which include a devotional time, a short business meeting, usually a snack or meal, and through special events and/or projects planned throughout the year.  Also, we do some projects both around the church (maintenance type projects) as well as mission projects in and around our community and around the world.  UMM is a fellowship organization AND a service organization, but we are so much more!  Come and see what you’ve been missing. For more information, watch our calendar of events, or call Pastor Rich at 918-256-3665 today.

Bible Study

Bible StudyAt CUMC, we believe that Christian education is essential to having a firm foundation beneath the feet of our faith.  Also, we believe that one of the places where one might have a life-changing experience is through the sharing that occurs through small group Bible study, and Sunday School.  Our philosophy is not to pursue “student-teacher” relationships in our classes. Instead, we all explore the Bible together (the leader as a student too), ever growing through our combined shared experiences and discoveries.

Additionally, we offer many topical studies throughout each year, in addition to our Sunday School program for all ages.  Sunday School begins each Sunday morning at 9:00.  All are invited to come grow with us, as together we seek to become more like Christ. You are personally invited to meet with us this (and every) Sunday. And remember to watch our calendar for our next topical study.
